Solomon (formerly Scooter) is a toy Poodle mix who came to Healing HEART Sanctuary in September 2014 at about three years old. Originally named Scooter, Solomon was paralyzed when he was hit by a car and left untreated. Left unattended by his family, a neighbor heard Solomon’s barks for attention.. The neighbor worked to have Solomon relinquished to a rescue organization. There he was rushed to a veterinarian who determined that his spine had been broken and, sadly, surgery was not an option, too much time had passed.
At that point Solomon had very little, if any, movement or feeling in his legs. The veterinarians did not believe that he would ever be able to walk, run or even wag his tail again. He had only one mm of spinal cord running through to his back end. But never say never to Solomon! He may not be “normal” yet he wags his tail, moves his legs, and when he slows down (which is rare), he can even take steps on his own. Solomon benefited from being part of an amazing foster family for nine months. They worked diligently with him to make this possible. He is not only quite a character but quite a miracle!
