Fanny is a domestic shorthair black cat who came to Healing HEART Sanctuary in August 2004 as a very young kitten. In the winter in Utah, Fanny had crawled inside the engine of a car to get warm and when the car was started, the fan belt broke her back. She was rushed to a veterinarian who gave her steroids and a chiropractic adjustment. Before the adjustment she had no feeling in her back legs whatsoever, but afterwards there was a faint hint of a deep feeling response. She immediately came to Healing HEART Sanctuary where we worked hard to get her back on her feet. No one worked harder than Fanny, though. She was determined to walk and run again, and it did not take long. From dragging to crawling to limping to walking to running, Fanny did it all! She is now totally mobile and except for a slight limp, you would never know she had a problem. Sadly, her bladder never fully recovered and she needs help to urinate. Fanny is one of the founding animals that came to Healing HEART Sanctuary when the organization began. She is a joy to be around and loves to lay on your chest, put her face on your face and purr you to sleep.
