~ The Senorita!
Coli is a Bichon Frise mix who came to Healing HEART Sanctuary in March 2015 at about three years old. Coli was rescued at the last second from a hoarding situation in Los Angeles, CA. The animals were going to be confiscated when a volunteer from Las Vegas said she would immediately leave to get Coli and bring her back to Healing HEART Sanctuary. At that point, Coli’s back legs were not working at all for unknown reason. The veterinarian in Kanab determined that she had three herniated discs in her back. Even though she wasn’t using her legs, the vet felt it was a good sign that she had deep feeling response in her feet.
Efforts to get her back on her feet without surgery have been successful! Coli is now walking, dragging, walking, running, falling and walking again. The bulk of her progress has been attributed to the work of a volunteer who came daily to do exercises with her legs. Coli is not bothered by her condition in any way and also loves her time in her wheelchair, especially when taken to Home Depot. She loves trekking all around the store to greet everyone. Why Home Depot you ask? Maybe it’s the silky smooth cement floor. We’re not sure but she LOVES it!
