Chili

~ The Chili Monster!

Sponsor Chili
Chili is a young Pygmy goat who came to Healing HEART Sanctuary in May 2015 at around three months old.  When Chili was very young he was apparently dropped, causing an injury his front leg.  A family adopted him and tried to help rehabilitate him but were afraid that they weren’t doing enough.

When Chili came to HHS he was no bigger than a football (with a head and legs). Because his hoof was turned under, he could not use his front left leg.  The veterinarian determined that a tendon had contracted and needed to be slowly lengthened.  To stretch the tendon, we used a metal finger splint, tongue depressors, foam for cushioning, cast padding and elasticon (a stretchy tape) to build a little leg splint for him… and guess what, it worked!

goat8With his splint on, he was soon running and kicking up his heels, as good as new.  Then one day, Chili was being a little stinker and pulled off his splint and hid it. But to our amazement, he didn’t seem to need it anymore.  His leg is fully healed  and he currently serves as a companion for Falcon, another young HHS goat.  Chili is also the comic relief around HHS as he runs, screams, jumps and snorts to his heart’s content.  His nicknames are Chili Willy, Chili Pepper, the Chili Dog and the one most apt due to his propensity for getting into trouble… the dreaded Chili Monster!
